5 Ways to Deal with Burnouts
In this policy, the investment risk in the investment portfolio is borne by the policyholder.
According to a survey, 70%1 of Indians experienced stress at least once a week at their workplace. Another study2 revealed that Indian professionals are more stressed as compared to their global peers. One of the symptoms of excessive stress is the feeling of ‘burnout’. Burnout is a state of emotional, mental and physical exhaustion.
Here are five ways to deal with burnouts:
Consult a therapist
If you feel that you are experiencing burnout then it is highly recommended to consult a therapist. Although seeking professional health for mental well-being is a taboo in our country, this is changing for the better. A credible therapist would help you cope with burnout and help you recover.
Take regular breaks
You may want to take regular breaks that help you detox and come back fresh to work. An investment plan like HDFC Life Click 2 Wealth would help you create a corpus which can even help you take career breaks to travel or indulge in sabbaticals.
Confide in those you trust
If you are experiencing burnout, you might wish to confide in those whom you can trust. It could either be your spouse or best friend or even a trusted work colleague. By sharing, you are likely to feel better and your well-wisher would offer you advice that would be in your best interest.
Exercise and get good sleep
Burnout could also occur due to lack of sleep and exercise. A study revealed that more than 60%3 of Indians don’t exercise. India was also revealed to be the second4 most sleep deprived nation. Lack of exercise and good sleep can result in a number of disorders and ailments. Therefore, it is important to exercise at least 4-5 hours in a week and get uninterrupted sleep for at least 7 hours if not more. It is also a good idea to seek professional guidance if you are suffering from sleep deprivation
Set boundaries
Certain activities could trigger burnouts. If you are able to identify these activities or root causes, then you must avoid them at all cost to not burnout. For example, if you have been working continuously over weekends apart from working days, it could lead to a burnout. So you may have to strictly avoid work over the weekends.
If you feel you are getting signals from your mind and body that you are suffering from a burnout, then it is highly recommended that you address it as quickly as possible.
